Position: PT Clinical Setting: Skilled Nursing Facility

Facility Description:
Qualifications:

Must be computer literate.  Must be able to function well under Supervising Therapist and follow all department policies and procedures, as well as possess the ability to interact appropriately with patients/residents, their families, and other staff members.

Certification:

Must have valid CPR certification.

Must have a completed physical examination from a licensed physician within the last year.

Must have a negative TB skin test within the past year OR a clear Chest X-ray within the past five years.

Education:

Some College experience or equivalent experience (Volunteer or employment) in the healthcare field.  Familiarity with basic human sciences, psychology, and medical terminology is preferred, as well as a strong interest in working with persons with physical/psychological disabilities.

Experience:

Entry-level to Experienced.  The Department will provide further training to expand the Technician’s basic skills to enable them to better meet the patient’s needs.

Physical Requirements:

A. Ability to bend, reach, or assist to transfer up to 50-100 lbs.

B. Ability to stand and/or walk 80% of an 8 hr. shift.

C. Visual and hearing acuity to perform job-related functions.

Job Summary:

The Rehab Tech performs patient treatments under the direct supervision of a licensed Physical or Occupational Therapist.  Also assists with non-patient care activities to facilitate department functioning such as (but not limited to) clerical duties and house keeping as required.

Organizational Relationships:

Reports to:

Registered Therapist(s).

Essential Job Responsibilities:

1.   All responsibilities performed by the Rehabilitation Technician must be under the direct supervision of a Registered Therapist.

2.   Assist with the provision of patient-related services under the direct supervision of a licensed therapist.

3.   Assist with clerical duties.

4.   Assist with inventory control, including linen supply.

5.   Provide department/equipment clean up daily or more frequently as needed.

6.   Assist with the transportation of patients.

7.   Provide required documentation in patient’s medical records when involved with provision of patient-related services.

8.   Reports any problem areas/equipment within each facility to the appropriate supervisor immediately.

9.   Comply with the State Licensing Board of California, Title 22, CMS, and California Labor Board Guidelines.

May perform other duties as assigned.
